BACKYARD WILDLIFE
Our backyard borders Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. Here are photos of some of the animals we've seen so far.
"Gabe" Baby Turtle found by neighbors Gale and Bill
Hawk briefly trapped in neighbor Kim's screened-in porch. He had flown in an open door.
Rocky greeting a turtle found in our backyard. The turtle was returned to his/her home sortly afterwards.

Spotted Salamander when I let him go near Swan Pond. He was found by Kim next door in her driveway after a storm.
Hummingbird at front porch feeder.
Click Beetle. I read that the "eyes" are spots on the back end of the insect; but I can't tell from the photo. This was at Kim's front porch next door.
Possible red-eared slider. Found at the end of the road by neighbors. I let it go down by the water in the back yard.

Crawfish (crawdad?) in Gale's driveway August 26, 2008. Several were seen in yards and driveways in the neighborhood, perhaps due to heavy rains.
